Terms of Service

1. The Service

• Five new questions are released every day at 00:00 UTC. Everyone gets the same questions on the same day.
• You can play once per day, and answers are scored on our servers.
• If you sign in with Google, your Google account name, profile picture, score and time appear on that day's leaderboard.
• Answers and leaderboards from the last 14 days are available under "Past trails".
• The Service is free. If paid features are ever introduced, we will announce them in these terms and in the Service before they take effect.

2. Accounts

• You can play without signing in. To appear on leaderboards, you must sign in with a Google account.
• Your display name is your Google account name. If it infringes others' rights or is offensive, the operator may change or hide it.
• Each person should take part in rankings with one account only.
• You are responsible for problems caused by sharing your account with others.

3. What you must not do

• Use multiple accounts or devices to replay a day's questions and manipulate rankings.
• Use bots, scripts or vulnerabilities in the Service to learn answers in advance or alter scores.
• Send excessive requests to the Service or otherwise disrupt its operation.
• Copy the Service's questions and explanations in bulk and publish them elsewhere.
• Break the law or infringe the rights of others.

4. Records and leaderboards

To keep rankings fair, we may remove records that fall under section 3 or appear abnormal from leaderboards, or delete them, without notice. Repeated cases may lead to restrictions on the account.

5. Content and rights

• The Service's own content, including questions, explanations and design, belongs to the operator. You are welcome to share your own results (result images and result text).
• Satellite imagery is provided by Esri and its contributors, and borders and country names come from OpenStreetMap contributors (served by OpenFreeMap). Their rights remain with their owners, and sources are credited on the map.
• The references used for each question are recorded as its sources.

6. Accuracy

The Service is a quiz for fun and learning. We try to check historical facts, but scholarly views differ and mistakes can happen. Do not rely on the Service for academic, legal, educational assessment or other important decisions. If you spot an error, please tell us and we will look into it.

7. Changes and discontinuation

Because the Service is run by an individual, we may change its questions, scoring or features, or suspend or end the Service temporarily or permanently. Where possible, we will announce major changes or shutdown in advance within the Service.

8. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided free of charge and "as is". Except in cases of intent or gross negligence by the operator, we are not liable for losses arising from using or being unable to use the Service, from lost records, or from outages of third-party services such as Google sign-in, map data or hosting. This limitation does not apply where applicable law does not permit it.

9. Stopping use and deleting your account

You may stop using the Service at any time. To have your account and records deleted, contact us at the address below and we will delete them promptly after verifying your identity. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will post the update here with its effective date. Significant changes that are unfavourable to you will be announced at least seven days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the new terms take effect means you accept them.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. We will first try to resolve any dispute amicably through the contact below; if litigation is needed, it will be handled by the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
